After years of enduring the rigours of high powered business, Jonathan decided to drop out of the rat race and indulge his passion for the Jaguar Marque by settling in Cape Town and assembling an awesome collection of early classics. Hunting the South African landscape was both exciting but disappointing in that there was a sad lack of sporting models available particularly the XK's of Le Mans fame, so it was off to the UK to forage the auto backwaters resulting in a container of four very "worn out" cars arriving at Cape Town Docks in 2003. Together with the Mark VIII's, Mark II and an E-Type, this made for a formidable array of Jaguarama.

Thus the restoration process progressed smoothly until suddenly, parking became a problem. This was resolved quite painlessly due to the accommodating nature of the generous owners of Vredenheim Wine Estate near Stellenbosch, a famous wedding and concert venue. A tractor shed was soon converted into a showroom and with what was now surplus space, a theme pub was created called FatCats: an ideal place for petrol heads and classic car buffs to regale their listeners with motoring tales of yore about old cars with lightening acceleration and uncongested roads, when Durban to Cape Town was well under 10 hours and Johannesburg to Durban 4.
With his partner Pam now also in the business, having enjoyed 17 years with one of the large hotel chains, they sought ways of utilising the Classic-Cats and thus the classic car hire side was formed. What better way to indulge your passion than cross pollinating business with pleasure?

As an active member and past chairman of the Cape Jaguar Club, Jonathan has established links with the corporate world of Jaguar and also organises Concours days and classic car events at Vredenheim. He is also fortunate to be privy to the media launches of new model Jaguars like the XK and XF prior to the public offering.
